10 Hot Alternatives to the Toyota GR Prius
Toyota He’s no stranger to building fun performance cars, in particular Hot hatches. While rumors swirl surrounding a mid-engined Toyota Camry sports car that could shake up the auto industry, we can admire Toyota’s current lineup of performance cars like the GR Corolla, GR Yaris, GR86, and maybe even the GR Prius. The 2023 Toyota Prius is the best hybrid family car today and one of the best hatchbacks money can buy thanks to its updated engine and much-needed exterior styling. But it’s still somewhat lacking in the performance department. That was until Toyota built the ultimate Prius that featured actual performance modifications.
Although official specifications for the 2025 Toyota GR Prius have yet to be confirmed, it will cost between $34,465 and $45,540 and will have a 0-60 mph time of 6.6 seconds. This performance number is on par with some of the best hot hatches ever made like the Honda Civic Type R and Ford Focus ST. Unfortunately, gasoline-powered hatchbacks are a dying breed with the Nissan Maxima, Altima and Versa exiting the auto industry, and even Abarth turning to building electric hot hatches. It’s a shame considering how much fun these gas-powered hot hatches gave us; Even former Top Gear race driver The Stig chose a four-wheel-drive hatch as his daily car.
Before putting down a deposit on the day your GR Prius launches, consider these great hatchback alternatives that will give you endless smiles per gallon.
