7 cars in India with head-up display under INR 20,000: Maruti Baleno, Toyota Hayrider, Kia Seltos, Maruti Brezza

An increasing array of luxury and premium features is being democratized in mass-market models in recent years. This list includes the head-up display that first reached the masses with the Kia Seltos in 2019. Thanks to automakers like Maruti and Toyota, the head-up display is today available in cars priced under Rs 10 lakh as well. . Let’s first see what the feature offers:

What is a head-up display (HUD)?

There are a few types of displays available in cars based on their prices and categories. Most mass-market cars equipped with this feature use a transparent panel that is placed on the driver’s side of the dashboard, virtually in line with the road ahead. It transmits some key information from the instrument cluster to the screen that pops out of its housing, so the driver doesn’t have to take his eyes off the road.

Let us now take a look at the models that offer you HUD at a price under Rs 20 lakh:

Maruti Baleno

• In early 2022, the Maruti Baleno became the first model priced under Rs 10 lakh to get a head-up display.

• The head-up display, reserved for the top-spec Alfa model, displays information such as vehicle speed, gear position indicator (AMT only) and tachometer (RPM) reading as well.

• The Maruti Baleno Alpha is being sold at a starting price of Rs 9.33 lakh onwards.

Toyota Glanza

• Shortly after the facelifted Baleno went on sale, the Toyota Glanza was also updated (being the previous rebadged version).

• With the update, the Toyota hatchback also gets a head-up display, although it is reserved for the top-spec V model.

• The price of Toyota Glanza V starts from Rs 9.73 lakh.

Maruti Fronex

• The Maruti Baleno served as a base for the automaker to develop a sub-4-metre crossover SUV called the Maruti Fronx, which will be launched in early 2023.

• Being based on the premium hatchback model, it shares almost all features with the first model, including the head-up display. The convenience feature is limited to the top-spec Alpha model of the crossover.

• The price of the Maruti Fronx Alpha starts at Rs 11.47 lakh.

Maruti Brezza

• In mid-2022, the Maruti Brezza was launched in its second-generation avatar, making it a more technology-laden offering.

• As part of the feature upgrades, the sub-4-metre SUV gets a head-up display on the fully loaded ZXi+ variants. It displays the same data as the Baleno, which includes the gear position indicator, cruise control and digital speedometer.

• The Maruti Brezza ZXi+ starts at Rs 12.48 lakh.

Maruti Grand Vitara

• The Grand Vitara nameplate has been revived for Maruti’s latest entry into the compact SUV space due in mid-2022.

• It is one of the best equipped Maruti cars on sale today and has this comfort feature on board. Limited to powerful hybrid models only (Zeta+ and Alpha+).

• In this Maruti offering, the head-up display is more detailed and also displays information related to the SUV’s battery and navigation.

• Maruti is selling the Grand Vitara Hybrid at a starting price of Rs 18.29 lakh.

Toyota Urban Cruiser Hider

• The Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder gets the same range of engines and equipment as the Maruti Grand Vitara, including the head-up display.

• This convenience feature is only offered on the top G and V trims in its hybrid range.

• Toyota has priced the powerful hybrid variants (with head-up display) of the SUV from Rs 18.49 lakh.

Kia Seltos

• The new Kia Seltos offers this convenience feature only on X-Line models offering details such as speed and navigation. The design of this unit is different from the ones mentioned above, it is more distinctive.

• Prices start from Rs 19.60 lakh.
