Comparison between the 2024 Honda Pilot and the 2024 Hyundai Palisade
This is a competition between the proven 2024 Honda Pilot and the (relatively) new car in the lineup – the 2024 Hyundai Palisade.
The Pilot and Palisade are virtually the same vehicles they were last year — when they both received significant updates. The Pilot received a complete makeover, while the Palisade received a mid-cycle refresh. Each is a leader in its own SUV lineup.
With updated styling and powertrain tweaks, let’s see how the popular three-row midsize SUV compares.
Honda Pilot 2024
The goal of Honda bringing back the Pilot for 2023 was to make it more outdoors-oriented, away from soccer practices and cell phone signals. This effort is incorporated into the TrailSport version, which features steel skid plates, an extra inch of ground clearance, a TrailWatch camera system (to better navigate rocks and trees around the vehicle), and special software designed to help it traverse more difficult terrain.
However, not everyone plans to use their SUV for off-road adventures. Some SUV owners simply want a spacious and comfortable daily driver. To this end, Honda engineers have strengthened the chassis and updated the suspension and steering to improve the agility of all Pilot models. Pricing for the 2024 Honda Pilot starts at $37,090.
The most prominent features of the Honda Pilot
Bold Trail Sport model: The aforementioned Honda Pilot TrailSport is the most powerful, adventure-oriented model in the lineup. It touts standard all-wheel drive, all-terrain tires, and an inch more ground clearance — 8.3 inches — to better traverse trails.
Roomy function: The three-row Honda Pilot seats up to eight passengers, or seven if you opt for captain’s chairs in the second row. One particularly nifty option is the second-row middle seat that can be removed and stored in the cargo area, providing the flexibility to add a seat when you need it and store it on board when you don’t.
honda sensor: The Honda Sensing Suite comes standard on every Pilot. It features a slew of advanced driver safety technologies, including Traffic Jam Assist, Traffic Sign Recognition, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Lane Keep Assist. Blind-spot monitoring is standard on all but the base model.

Hyundai Palisade 2024
On the outside, there are no major changes to the Hyundai Palisade, having just undergone a refresh for 2023. It remains the brand’s top-of-the-line SUV, offering a great blend of looks, performance, comfort and technology – all essential attributes for success in the midsize SUV segment. The famous three-row.
Although largely unchanged, the Palisade gets a new trim level for 2024: Calligraphy Night Edition. This model looks sharp with a black exterior and wheels, and comes with standard all-wheel drive. The price of the 2024 Hyundai Palisade starts at $36,400.
Hyundai Palisade features
Eager powertrain: The Hyundai Palisade is powered by a 291-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 engine mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive (FWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD). This kind of power has helped enable the Palisade to tow up to 5,000 pounds, just like the Pilot.
High-end interior: The interior of the Hyundai Palisade looks like a more expensive SUV. The upscale interior looks like something out of Genesis, Hyundai’s luxury brand, and features extremely comfortable seating.
Class-Leading Warranty: Hyundai’s 5-year/60,000-mile Basic Warranty and 10-year/100,000-mile Powertrain Warranty give you peace of mind – for up to a decade. Hyundai also offers a 3-year/36,000-mile free maintenance plan.

Each of these highly refined three-row SUVs features plenty of aesthetics and the latest technology and safety features, plus room for the whole family. Their prices are similar, and even the interior space is basically a selling point. In most respects, these three-row SUVs are remarkably comparable machines. They also have the same maximum towing capacity of 5,000 pounds
The OG Honda Pilot and newcomer Hyundai Palisade (relative) compete well against each other. The Palisade has a slightly more powerful engine, a better warranty, a new special edition, and its starting price is about $700 lower. Meanwhile, the proven Passport has a pedigree that the Palisade can’t quite match, plus it gets slightly better highway fuel economy.
We have no hesitation in recommending any of these capable family SUVs. The real winner here is the one that suits your lifestyle and needs.
