I’m 29 and live in a van that I converted into a tiny house – the bed takes up half the space, but I love it
When most of us imagine our dream home, we envision a very spacious abode.
But that’s not the case for Holly, who posts on social media as @AGiftByGaia.
The 29-year-old and her partner recently put the finishing touches on their dream abode: a converted van largely occupied by a double bed.
But according to Holly, the “tiny house on wheels” gives the couple more “freedom” than bricks and mortar could provide.
The couple’s journey began in 2021, when they set off on an old Mercedes Sprinter truck.
Vans generally sell for between £3,000 and £15,000, depending on the model you choose.
“We completely gutted it and decided to build a tiny house,” Holly says in a TikTok video.
The skilled couple did all the renovations themselves to keep costs down, with the entire job taking about two years while they both juggled full-time work alongside their project.
Despite describing it as “one of the hardest jobs we’ve ever done together,” the end result was undeniably comforting.
The miniature home has its own fireplace, a workstation for Holly to make her jewelry, and a stunning wall made of decorative panels.
All of the interior furnishings are made of oak, giving the couple plenty of storage space for their belongings, while they’ve also fitted out essentials like taps and a portable stove.
Moreover, the back of the truck opens completely, allowing the lovebirds to gaze at the beautiful rivers and forests near where they are parked.
According to Holly, the tiny house is “everything we wanted.”
It allowed the couple to live a “slower life,” reconnect with nature, and even forage for dinner.
In another clip, the couple shared that they plan to start traveling around the UK in their new home acrossA few months, so they can experience all the attractions they’ve always wanted to visit.
“We’ve built our own little house and now we can start living the life we’ve always dreamed of,” Holly wrote.
