Jeep Compass and Meridian get huge discounts of up to Rs 1.40 lakh in India for the month of September
Over a month ago, American automaker Jeep had hiked the prices of Compass and Meridian by up to Rs 43,000 and Rs 3.14 lakh respectively. Besides, Jeep has also pulled the plug on the petrol version of the Compass in May 2023 due to its non-compliance with BS6 Stage II emission norms. Now, the automaker is offering huge discounts on the Compass, Meridian, and Grand Cherokee models. Some Jeep dealers are offering discounts of up to Rs 1.30 lakh on Meridian, up to Rs 1.40 lakh on Compass, and up to Rs 4.50 lakh on Grand Cherokee (applicable to limited units only). Note that these offers and discounts, which include cash benefits, exchange offers, corporate discounts, and special benefits, will vary according to the variant, region and availability, and will be treated as valid until September 30, 2023. The Jeep Compass, Meridian and Grand Cherokee are priced at Rs 21.73 lakh, Rs 33.40 lakh and Rs 80.50 lakh respectively. Prices are ex-showroom.
Jeep Compass SUV: variants, powertrain
The Compass SUV is available in three variants: Sport, Limited (O), and Model S (O). The SUV is powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine, which is tuned to produce 168 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque. To handle the transmission, you get a six-speed manual gearbox as well as a nine-speed torque converter as options. All-wheel drive is also included as standard on automatic models. So far, the car is not available with a gasoline engine. However, some reports suggest that the company may offer a new turbo petrol engine as an alternative option in the future. This engine is a 1.3-litre turbo petrol unit that was first used in the 2018 edition of the Jeep Renegade.
Jeep Meridian, Grand Cherokee: Powertrain details
The Meridian SUV is offered in Limited (O) and Limited Plus versions available in Upland and X special editions. Under the hood, the Jeep Meridian gets a 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine that produces 168bhp and 350Nm of torque. A 6-speed manual and a 9-speed automatic are both gearbox options for this engine. Only the top-end automatic version comes with all-wheel drive (AWD). There is no petrol unit available with the SUV at the moment.

Meanwhile, Jeep India is offering a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine for the Grand Cherokee. The Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Rubicon also have the same unit. This engine produces 268 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque. An 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission and all-wheel drive are standard.
The automaker offers the Grand Cherokee in one Limited (O) model, equipped with all-wheel drive. In terms of market competition, the SUV competes with Volvo XC90, Audi Q7, BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GLE, etc.
