The crash investigation revealed that the Dodge Ram Cargo Van was traveling westbound on State Highway 37 in the right lane of travel. A Dodge Ram Cargo van traveling west on State Highway 37 was approaching the 2011 Route 37 entrance and began turning right into the entrance. Mr. Santore was traveling east on the west side of State Highway 37 on his electric bicycle while wearing dark clothing and no helmet. Mr. Santore struck a Dodge Ram Cargo Van on the front passenger side of the vehicle. Mr. Santore was thrown from his bike and then struck the passenger-side windshield of the vehicle. After the initial collision with the Dodge Ram Cargo Van, Mr. Santore and his electric bike continued traveling east for approximately 10 feet before coming to final rest in the grassy section of the plaza.
Assisting at the scene were EMTs from Manchester Township EMS and paramedics from Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. The crash investigation is ongoing, but at this point, not riding with the flow of traffic and using dark clothing are primary contributing factors to the crash.
