Mercedes-Benz is set to launch the GLE facelift in India tomorrow: everything we know so far

Mercedes-Benz is preparing to bid farewell to 2023 by issuing an updated version of its leading sports utility vehicle (SUV). The new facelifted GLE SUV is scheduled to hit the market on November 2, ahead of Diwali celebrations.
According to a report by HT Auto, this updated GLE SUV will come with various modifications to its design, interior and powertrain. Upon launch, it will resume competition with other luxury SUVs such as the Audi Q7, BMW X5, Volvo XC90, and more. Here’s a sneak peek at what to expect from the facelifted Mercedes GLE SUV.
In its latest release, the German automaker has given a new look to one of its top-tier SUVs. Significant updates include a redesigned front bumper, a new single-slat grille, updated LED headlights and taillights, and a new set of alloy wheels. The world got its first look at the updated GLE SUV in February, and it primarily represents a facelifted version. The overall appearance of the SUV remains quite similar to its predecessor.
The interior of the facelifted GLE SUV undergoes a range of improvements. Notably, it will feature a new steering wheel inspired by the S-Class. The GLE will also feature the latest version of the MBUX system. Mercedes has incorporated updated air intakes with chrome accents. The list of features will include four-zone climate control, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, electronically adjustable front and rear seats with memory capabilities, a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, and more.
Additionally, Mercedes may offer an optional off-road package for the SUV.
In terms of powertrain, the new GLE SUV is expected to be available in three models: 300 d, GLE 450 d, and GLE 450. The 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel engine will be paired with a 9-speed automatic gearbox, delivering 265 hp and 550 Newton meters of torque.
The other option is a 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine with the same transmission, with 100 PS and an additional 200 Nm. The only petrol engine on offer will be a 3.0-litre V6, capable of producing 375 PS of power and 500 Nm of peak torque.
The previous GLE SUV price in India started at $91.20 lakh (ex-showroom), while the more powerful diesel variant has arrived $1.08 Crores (ex-showroom). Expect the enhanced version to start in about an hour $95 lakh (ex-showroom).
