MSHP reports Colorado man killed when car crashes into tree – Daily Journal Online

The Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to a fatal single-vehicle accident that claimed the life of a Colorado man at 2:50 PM Saturday on Palmer Road, east of Welker Road, in Washington County.

According to the patrol, the wreck occurred when a westbound 2015 Ford Fiesta driven by Jacob Kordish, 42, of Commerce City, Colorado, failed to negotiate the left curve, causing the vehicle to go off the right edge of the road and strike a tree. .

Cordish was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:15 p.m. by Washington County Coroner Stephen Hatfield, who transported the body to the county morgue.

Andrew R. Carlson, 36, a passenger in the car, survived with minor injuries. He was transported by Washington County Ambulance District to Washington County Memorial Hospital in Potosi.

Both men were reportedly wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.

The Ford Fiesta, listed as “totaled,” was removed from the scene by Elliott’s Towing.

Troopers also responded to another one-vehicle accident that occurred Friday afternoon on Highway 8 in Washington County, leaving a Potosi man with serious injuries.

According to the patrol, the wreck occurred when a westbound 2005 Dodge Ram pickup truck driven by Andrew W. Malin, 58, of Potosi, failed to stay on the right half of the road. While traveling on the right side of the road, the truck’s front bumper collided with a warning sign on the bridge. Upon impact, the Dodge Ram’s front undercarriage struck the bridge and became airborne. Once it hit the ground, the truck hit a fence and flipped onto its left side. It then stopped on the right side of the road, still on its left side and facing east.

Malin, who was reportedly wearing a seatbelt when the crash occurred, was transported by Washington County Ambulance to Mercy Hospital-South where he was treated for his injuries.

The Dodge Ram, listed as “totaled,” was removed from the scene by Elliott’s Towing.

Troopers responded Sunday to a 2:55 p.m. collision between a car and a tractor that occurred on North Highway 1084 in St. Francois County.

According to the patrol, the wreck occurred when a southbound 2015 Kia Forte driven by Shelby L. Shriver, 48, of DeLogue, attempted to pass a southbound 1985 Ford tractor operated by Eric S. Wade, 59, of Ironton. When Wade attempted to turn left, the front of the Kia struck the rear of the tractor, sending the vehicle off the left side of the road and into a creek.

Shriver was taken to Iron County Medical Center by St. Francois County Ambulance, where she was treated for moderate injuries. It is not known whether she was wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision. Because Wade was driving a tractor, he was exempt from having to wear a seat belt.

The Kia, listed as “totaled,” was removed from the scene by Adams Towing. Damage to the tractor was listed as “minor.”
