New Kia Stonic – urban crossover in Tunisia at City Cars

City Cars, the official agent of the South Korean car brand Kia, announced the launch of the Kia Stonic, an urban crossover, in the Tunisian market, which aims to strengthen its position in the urban crossover and SUV category.

Kia Stonic offers its customers a range of new, specially efficient engines equipped with innovative technologies aimed at increasing fuel efficiency. The Kia Stonic in particular inherits the new 48-volt mild hybrid petrol engine.

Inside, the driver and passengers will now be able to take advantage of the infotainment and navigation system with an 8-inch touchscreen, which is offered as standard with the audio system. The new infotainment system, compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, offers multi-connectivity via Bluetooth technology, allowing passengers to connect two mobile devices simultaneously, one for multimedia and hands-free phone use and the other for multimedia use only.

The Kia Stonic GT Line features all the sporty hallmarks of the brand’s design language, displaying a more emotional style, both inside and out, combined with design elements specific to the GT Line finish.

The GT-Line version gives a greater impression of sportiness thanks to the distinctive front and rear bumpers that give it a more assertive presence on the road. The front bumper is enhanced with integrated LED fog lights, metal inlays that highlight its lower edge, and three distinctive air inlets distributed across the entire width of the front. The ‘tiger nose’ grille also benefits from an exclusive treatment while the mirror caps are painted black. In addition, the GT-Line finish is equipped with “Full LED” headlights, giving it a distinctive light signature (also available on the SX version). At the rear, the Kia Stonic GT Line features more striking armor than other models in the range – including a diffuser with two aesthetic exhaust tips – and a GT-Line badge mounted on the tailgate.

The interior of the Kia Stonic GT-Line stands out from other models in the range with exclusive dynamic design elements. It is particularly distinguished by the adoption of a carbon fiber cover on the dashboard, a finish reserved exclusively for GT Line models. This finish also has select seats covered in black fabric and faux leather upholstery with white trim and contrast stitching. Drivers also benefit from a new flat-bottom steering wheel covered in perforated leather and enhanced with the GT-Line logo and contrast stitching.

The Kia Stonic range will be offered with an 84bhp 1.2-litre petrol engine for the EX and SX versions. The GT-Line trim will offer Kia’s new mild-hybrid petrol engine. Combining the new 1.0-litre T-GDi engine (super direct injection petrol unit) with a 48-volt mild hybrid system, the mild hybrid powertrain ensures superior fuel efficiency by imperceptibly producing and recovering all-electric power. An integrated 48-volt lithium-ion polymer battery increases the torque level of the combustion engine by saving electrical energy, and extends downtime thanks to a new 12 kW starter generator (mild hybrid starter generator / MHSG).

The MHSG is connected by a belt to the crankshaft of the combustion engine, and switches between “electric motor” and “generator” modes discreetly. In “Electric Drive” mode, during acceleration phases, the MHSG starter generator provides electric assistance aimed at reducing the load and the level of thermal engine emissions. During the deceleration phase, the MHSG has the ability, under certain conditions, to switch to “generator” mode, thus reclaiming power from the crankshaft to recharge the battery. The new 1.0-litre T-GDi “Smartstream” engine benefits from continuous valve opening and closing valve timing (CVVD) technology. CVVD technology allows the combustion engine to switch imperceptibly from one combustion cycle to another depending on the load, thus achieving maximum fuel efficiency in all driving conditions. The Smart Stream engine generates a power of 100 hp or 120 hp, with a maximum torque of 120 hp linked to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT7) of up to 200 Nm.

The KIA Stonic is displayed in Tunisia at the City Cars showroom, in four variants, with a price starting from 72,980 Tunisian dinars.
