NIO Launches All-New EC6, a Smart Electric Coupe SUV, in China – September 15, 2023 at 09:07 PM EDT
NIO has launched the all-new EC6, a smart electric coupe SUV, with prices starting at CNY 358,000 (with 75 kWh battery pack) or CNY 416,000 (with 100 kWh battery pack). With a Battery as a Service (BaaS) subscription, the price starts from CNY 288,000. The all-new EC6 is now available for test drives, with deliveries commencing immediately.
Built on the NT2.0 platform, the all-new EC6 comes with comprehensive upgrades including an innovative family design language, high-level performance and groundbreaking intelligence to deliver a mobility experience that exceeds expectations for families and individuals looking for inspiration in their lives. Measuring 4,849 mm long, 1,995 mm wide and 1,697 mm high with a wheelbase of 2,915 mm, the all-new EC6 brings the iconic fastback coupe, an expressive silhouette and smooth, sweeping curves at the top created by a refined slant. Column and lower body height. It provides trend makers with a more enjoyable navigation experience on their journey of exploring life.
Building on the language of the “Design for AD” family, the all-new EC6 goes a step further to adopt the innovative split-type Double Dash daytime running lights for the first time. The split design adds more tension on the front surfaces, generating strong momentum. Innovation in the production process eliminated the black edges that existed above the lights, marking a new design direction.
The all-new EC6 has a dual-mode active spoiler that is tuned to improve aerodynamics. This spoiler can automatically or manually shift positions for better speed or reduced drag. Thanks to its optimized space planning, the all-new EC6 also offers impressive interior space.
There are 22 storage compartments as well as 7 hooks that can hold up to 30kg of items. The boot alone offers 594 litres of space, complemented by a hidden multi-layer storage compartment with a capacity of 89 litres. The total volume can be increased to 1,402 liters by simply folding the second-row seats down. Excellent performance has always been part of NIO’s DNA, and the all-new EC6 is no exception.
It comes standard with dual-motor all-wheel drive, and is equipped with a 150kW front induction motor and a 210kW rear permanent magnet motor for a total of 360kW of power and 700Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.4 seconds with half load. As standard configuration, NIO high-performance aluminum alloy 4-piston fixed calipers on the front wheel coupled with 355mm brake discs achieve a braking distance of 34.5 meters from 100-0km/h (with 21-inch rim). . Aluminum alloy and high-strength steel in the all-new EC6 balance performance and weight.
The die-cast aluminum alloy rear floor assembly and C- and D-pillars not only protect the safety of the battery and passengers, but also significantly reduce the number of parts and weight. A nearly 50:50 front and rear weight distribution and an extremely low center of gravity of 580 mm promote neutral steering for improved handling in sharp turns and higher top speed. Comprehensive handling is raised by five-link front and rear suspension, in-house developed Intelligent Chassis Control (ICC) and Continuous Damping Control (CDC).
Custom adjustments allow different acceleration times from 0 to 100 km/h and 9 driving modes. In addition, the Intelligent Smooth Stop System (ISS) comes standard on the vehicle, automatically adjusting the braking force at the end to significantly soften downhill severity and improve driving comfort in congested urban areas. Banyan’s ever-evolving digital ecosystem connects NIO’s products, services and communities, providing a unique experience of intelligent driving.
The new “Find My Car” feature captures the surrounding environment using surround-view cameras and a transparent body and encodes the images, helping users locate the car on the NIO app. There are images of the environment surrounding the car on the NIO app, through which users can check the location of the car. NOMI improves interaction efficiency through added features such as “Listen” and “Center Display Control via Voice Command”.
For intelligent driving, the all-new EC6 comes standard with NIO Aquila Super Sensing equipped with 33 high-performance sensors including LiDAR, and NIO ADAM Super Computing featuring four NVIDIA Drive Orin X with a total computing power of up to 1016 TOPS. It is also equipped with 24 active safety and driver assistance features powered by Aquila Super Sensing and ADAM Super Computing. Standard Intelligent Adaptive Driving Beam (ADB) allows control of the matrix high beam.
With Aquila Super Sensing technology, the LiDAR system and front cameras automatically detect road conditions, providing input to the lighting system to accurately distribute light without disrupting other vehicles heading in the same or opposite direction, to ensure night driving safety. With powerful computing and advanced video encoding and decoding capabilities, the N-Box, the optional enhanced infotainment controller, serves as the “entertainment brain” of the PanoCinema, the digital cockpit, and the “second infotainment system.” With different input and output ways, it can support multiple passengers watching movies on the huge AR screen. Paired with NIO Air AR glasses, it delivers an experience equivalent to a 201-inch screen with a viewing distance of up to six metres.
The 7.1.4 surround sound system immerses passengers in its rich, clear sound. Game consoles, laptops, and tablets can be connected to the system in a plug-and-play manner.
