Friday October. 20
• 10:39 a.m. – Police responded to a report of an assault in the 2000 block of Chapel Drive. No other information was provided.
• 1:34 p.m. – Police responded to a crash in the 1700 block of Main Street. No injuries were reported.
• 10:13 p.m. – Police responded to a domestic disturbance in the 700 block of North 12th Street. No details were provided other than to take a report and assign a case number.
Other calls: Police responses included a dog found at 3:58 pm (North 12th Street and Hauser Lane) and a mental health case at 5:15 pm, PPD reported four traffic stops.

Other calls: Police responses included a bicycle traffic warning at 1:56 AM (College Avenue and North 17th Street), suspicious conditions at 2:27 AM (North 12th Street), a suspicious vehicle at 1:53 PM (South 17th Street), and a noise disturbance at 10:33pm (Newton Street), the suspicious vehicle at 10:59pm (Main Street) and the suspicious envelope at 11:38pm (Applegate Street). Additionally, police assisted another agency with a call at 10:07 PM (Main Street). PPD reported 10 traffic stops.

Other calls: Police responses included a citizen call at 12:48 AM (Chapel Drive), a property find at 1:56 PM (South 19th Street) and a verbal altercation at 6:18 PM (Main Street). PPD reported 12 traffic stops.
Monday October. 23
• 11:38 a.m. — Police received a report of a scam from someone in the 2600 block of Applegate Street. The person reported that the credit card disappeared and fraudulent transactions started appearing.
• 5:37 p.m. – Police responded to a report of an adult male who was intoxicated and passed out in the parking lot at College Street and North 19th Street. Paramedics examined the man, who was unresponsive but breathing, and transported him to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center.
Other calls: Police responses included a non-911 problem at 1:46 AM (14th Street and Main Street), a dog complaint at 1:43 PM (Newton Street), a welfare check at 3:09 PM (Applegate Street), and an abandoned vehicle at 5:15 PM (Richard Place) and a domestic disturbance at 9:36 PM (14th Street and College Avenue). PPD reported one traffic stop.

Sunday, October. 8
• 10:13 p.m. – Police arrested a 54-year-old Philomath woman on a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence (blood alcohol content of 0.15%) after a traffic stop at Pioneer Avenue and North 10th Street. The woman was issued a citation in lieu of Nursery. The driver was also cited for refusing a breath test and failing to signal a turn.

• 11:21 a.m. – Police transported a 21-year-old Newport man from the 900 block of Applegate Street to the Benton County Jail on a contempt of court charge.
• 11:43 a.m. – Police responded to a mental health case at Philomath High School.
Wednesday, October. 11
• 3:17 p.m. — Police responded to a report of a first-degree larceny in the 700 block of Grosse Place, in which a resident had lost $2,000 worth of silver bars mailed from a private seller to a buyer’s mailbox. When the buyer was notified that the package had been delivered, all that was found was an empty box torn open. The resident was given a police case number so a report could be filed with the U.S. Postal Service.
• 6:51 p.m. – Police responded to reports of a 5-year-old child sitting on the second floor window sill of an apartment. The child’s mother was contacted.

• 2:48 p.m. – Police received a report of a bicycle stolen from Philomath City Park.
Sunday, October. 15
• 7:38 p.m. – Police arrested a 28-year-old Albanian man on a misdemeanor charge of unlawful entry into a motor vehicle and a contempt warrant out of Lebanon. The man was cited rather than detained.
Monday October. 16
• 10:19 a.m. — Police took a report of a resident who lost a U.S.-issued passport and needs to file a report to complete an application for a replacement.
• 7:56 p.m. – Police arrested a 62-year-old Corvallis man on a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence (blood alcohol content of 0.13%) after a traffic stop on Southwest 71st Street in Corvallis. The man was cited in lieu of custody and transported to his residence.
Wednesday, October. 18
• 7:57 a.m. — Police responded to a crash where a vehicle turned left from a gas station onto North 19th Street and collided with a southbound vehicle. The view of the driver exiting the gas station was reportedly blocked by a semi-trailer. Both vehicles sustained front end damage. No injuries were reported.
• 11:17 a.m. — Police responded to a report of a license plate stolen from a vehicle in the 2800 block of Newton Street. A security camera activated at 1:55 a.m. showed a person walking around the vehicle but there were no identifying marks on the suspect.

• 8:37 a.m. – Deputies received a report of a hit-and-run involving mailboxes that had been run over on Main Street.
Monday October. 23
• 11:58 p.m. – Police arrested a 23-year-old Albany man on a misdemeanor charge of driving while suspended and on two warrants following a traffic stop on Interstate 20 near Priest Road.

• 9:44 a.m. — Police arrested a 37-year-old Philomath man in the 1400 block of Applegate Street on a misdemeanor charge of failure to register as a sex offender.
Sunday, October. 29
• 11:11 p.m. – Police arrested a 34-year-old Albany woman on warrants from Lebanon Municipal Court and Linn County Justice Court after she was contacted at 13th Street and Chapel Drive while riding a bicycle. Citations were issued in lieu of detention.

Thursday, October. 19
• 9:40 p.m. – Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 84 about 10 miles north of Baker, claiming the life of Philip Wayne Markle, 19, of Nampa, Idaho. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that a Mitsubishi Mirage driven by 43-year-old Caldwell, Idaho, was in the slow lane when it struck the rear of a semi operated by a 44-year-old Fruitland, Idaho, man. The driver of the car and a passenger, a 16-year-old girl, were taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. Markle, also a passenger in the car and the driver’s son, was pronounced dead at the scene. The forces reported that the passengers were not wearing seat belts. The semi operator was not injured.
Saturday October. 21
• 3:27 a.m. – Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 101 about 3 miles north of Tillamook, killing a 17-year-old girl. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that a Dodge Ram driven by the juvenile was traveling southbound and veered into the northbound lane and collided head-on with a Toyota Tundra driven by a 38-year-old Garibaldi man. The girl was pronounced dead at the scene. The troopers reported that she was not wearing a seat belt. The driver of the Toyota was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
• 12:02 p.m. – Troopers responded to a vehicle-pedestrian crash on Interstate 5 about a mile south of Woodburn, which claimed the life of Elvin Miranda Martinez, 28, of Junction City. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that a southbound Toyota Corolla, driven by Martinez, was the subject of numerous driving complaints and collided with the center median on I-5 near Tigard. When OSP responded, the vehicle left the scene of the original accident and continued south at high speeds – again striking the median before the vehicle eventually became disabled. The motorist in question stopped to check on the driver and during the interaction, the suspect attempted to take the driver’s keys. When Woodburn Police officers arrived at the scene, Martinez fled on foot across the northbound lanes and was struck by a Honda CR-V. Martinez was transported to a local hospital and was later pronounced dead. The Honda driver was not injured.

• 7:52 a.m. – Troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on Highway 211 about 8 miles west of Molalla, which claimed the life of Bradley J. Burchard, 43, of Sherwood. OSP’s initial investigation indicated Burchard was driving a Ford Focus east when the vehicle left the road and struck a tree. The car caught fire as a result of the collision. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
