The video shows a truck crashing into a barber shop in West Hollywood

(KTLA) – Security video captured the terrifying moment a truck crashed into a West Hollywood barbershop while customers were inside.

The incident happened Thursday at Trendsetters Barbershop, located near La Brea and Fountain Avenues, at approximately 11 a.m.

A video of the incident shows a large red Ford pickup truck illegally crossing the narrow street and crashing into the glass entrance.

As the truck entered the store, the impact flipped over a large vending machine that missed and crushed the customer as the barber quickly pulled him away.

Witnesses told NewsNation affiliate KTLA that the truck’s owner left the vehicle in neutral at a gas station directly across the street before driving away.

That’s when the truck pulled out of the parking lot, straight across the street into the store. It appears that the truck owner is trying to stop the car, but to no avail.

“We didn’t know what was going on, but he left his car in neutral and got out and then the car went straight into the store,” said Chon Tucker, a barber at the store.

Tucker said the barber seen in the video acting quickly to keep his client out of harm’s way is a hero.

“This guy literally turned the chair to the right as the vending machine was going down,” Tucker said. “He almost took his legs out, but the barber flipped his chair around because that’s what we do here at Trendsetters, we take care of our customers.”

Although Tucker said fortunately no one was hurt, the store sustained significant damage. He said the latest incident was nothing they had not seen before as the store had been hit at least six times in the past.

“It’s a beautiful place, but a little scary,” he said of the area.

Repairs to the damage may take some time, but Tucker said they hope to reopen the store within a week or two.

As for drivers in a crowded neighborhood, Tucker advises, “You should put your car in park.”

The displaced barbers were renting chairs and receiving clients in other salons while renovation work was underway.
