The Volvo C40 Recharge electric SUV has been launched at a price of Rs 61.25 lakh

Volvo Cars India has launched its second electric model – Volvo C40 Recharge – in the country at an introductory price of Rs 61.25 lakh (ex-showroom). The automaker also sells the Volvo XC40 Recharge. Both are sport utility vehicles (SUVs).

Recharging C40 is Volvo’s first electric car (BEV). Bookings for the electric SUV opened today exclusively through Volvo’s website for a refundable amount of Rs 1 lakh. Only deliveries, which will start this month itself, will be made through dealerships.

The C40 Recharge is assembled at Volvo’s Hosakote plant in Bengaluru, Karnataka. Despite being locally assembled, it is Rs 4.35 lakh more expensive than the XC40 Recharge, which is priced at Rs 56.90 lakh (ex-showroom). Volvo aims to electrify its entire range by 2030 and become carbon neutral by 2040.

The Indian arm of the Swedish automaker is offering an ownership package with the electric SUV that includes three years of comprehensive vehicle warranty, three years of Volvo service package, three years of roadside assistance, eight years or 1.60 lakh km of battery warranty, and five years of subscription. In digital services and an 11 kW wall charger.

The company also announced that the exclusive ‘Tre Kronor Experience’ programme, which was introduced for XC40 Recharge customers, will be extended to C40 Recharge customers. Tre-Kronor offers a range of uniquely luxurious and personalized experiences.

Based on Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) platform.The India-spec C40 Recharge comes with twin engines, one on each axle, with a combined power of 408 PS and 660 Nm. Power is provided by a 78 kWh lithium-ion battery, which weighs 500 kg. This SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 4.7 seconds and reaches a top speed of 180 kilometers per hour. All-wheel drive (AWD) is standard.

Using an 11 kW wallbox charger, the C40 Recharge can charge from 0-100% in 7-8 hours (or approximately 50-60 km/h). Using a 150 kW fast charger, the electric SUV can be charged from 10 to 80% in about 27 minutes (or about 80 to 100 kilometers in 10 minutes).

The claimed WLTP range of the Volvo C40 Recharge is 530 km, while the claimed range is 683 km under ICAT test conditions on a single full charge.
