The aptly named chef’s truck is Bazan’s ode to some of his other favorite dishes from Mexico. Speaking to MySA about what to expect from Chef’s Truck’s menu, Bazan revealed that he plans to serve tacos and tortas, and said: “Something I love in Mexico – chilaquiles.”

When does the Chef Truck open?

Scheduled to open on Tuesday, November 7, Chef’s Truck will not travel around town but rather remain anchored in Besame, the signature food truck park and bar on East Grayson Street. Bazan added that some of the taco dishes he plans to serve once Chef’s Truck debuts include al pastor and steak tacos.

Bazan notes that hungry customers will also have more than one choice when it comes to ordering chili from Chef’s Truck. “We’ll also be incorporating chili into the torta, or (you can get) the chili on its own. So you can have a chili dish with the meat, or in a torta (at Chef’s Truck).”

You can grab a margarita from Besame Bar (they offer a $1 margarita special on Wednesdays, FYI) or enjoy a fresh fresca from Chef’s Truck to pair with a torta, taco, or chilaquil.

Chef Bazan has now been tasked with managing the menu for three Toro locations, two Cuishes restaurants, as well as the menu at Bunker Mixology and Cellar Mixology, and he shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. “I (just want everyone) to enjoy some tacos, tortas, and chili like we do in Mexico City!” Bazan added excitedly.

Besame’s sister food truck park, El Camino, also welcomed a new food truck this week. The pink Lumpia by Bebot food truck is simply impossible to miss in the brightly lit food truck park on B Street.

After taking a photo under the neon, “Lumpia is my love language” sign, visitors can experience Lumpia with Bebot’s signature twist on the classic lumpia (it has added a Texas twist in the past by offering birria lumpia, for example), and Filipino. BBQ plates, perfect to pair with one of El Camino’s signature adult slushies.
