Upcoming cars expected to debut this Diwali season: Tata Punch EV, Renault Duster, and more

In November, five new cars are expected to be launched, some of which are scheduled to be launched in India later, according to a report by HT Auto.
Upcoming vehicles are said to include the updated Mercedes-Benz GLA SUV, a luxury model, and perhaps India’s most cost-effective electric SUV, the Tata Punch EV. Some of the models scheduled for global launch this month will also make their way to India, such as the Skoda Superb sedan and one of Renault’s flagship SUVs, the Duster. Here’s a brief overview of what these five models have in store and their expected launch schedules.
Tata Punch EV
Tata Motors, after launching the facelifted Nexon EV in September, is now gearing up to launch its smallest electric SUV, the Punch EV. The Punch EV has been repeatedly seen undergoing testing ahead of its long-awaited debut.
The automaker had previously announced its plans to introduce four new electric vehicles by early next year, including the Punch EV. Once launched, the Punch EV has the potential to become the most budget-friendly electric SUV in India.
When compared to its internal combustion counterpart, the Punch EV is expected to feature a redesigned front fascia, incorporating a closed grille in line with the manufacturer’s latest design philosophy, similar to the recent facelifts seen on the Harrier and Safari SUVs.
Expected modifications to the Punch EV include a similar vertically stacked headlight unit equipped with an LED projector arrangement. In addition, there are expectations that a new range of alloy wheels will be introduced. Tata may also introduce a pioneering two-spoke steering wheel with a digital logo, which has been initially showcased on the new Nexon.
Mercedes GLE facelift
Mercedes-Benz is reportedly set to conclude 2023 with the launch of its updated GLE SUV, the flagship model scheduled for launch on November 2. When launched, it will compete with luxury rivals such as the Audi Q7, BMW X5 and Volvo. XC90. Changes expected for the new GLE include a redesigned front bumper, updated LED headlights and taillights, and a new set of alloy wheels. Inside, the GLE’s interior is expected to feature a new steering wheel borrowed from the S-Class, while the MBUX system is likely to receive the latest updates. Additionally, an optional off-road package may be available with the SUV.
Mercedes-AMG C43
In addition to the new GLE, Mercedes is also set to introduce another high-performance car in India, unveiling the AMG 63 on the same day. This sporty version of the C-Class will be equipped with a 2-litre turbo petrol engine, replacing the previous 3-litre six-cylinder engine. The engine is coupled to a nine-speed automatic transmission and can produce 397 horsepower and 500 Nm of peak torque.
Mercedes is expected to integrate 48V mild-hybrid technology with the AMG C43, which could provide a performance boost of 20 PS and 200 Nm.
Renault Duster
The five-seat compact car is preparing for its global return in a new version next month. Renault is preparing to unveil the new Duster SUV produced by its partner Dacia on November 29.
The next-generation Duster SUV, built on the automaker’s new modular CMF-B platform, will reportedly be equipped with a 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine, capable of delivering 167.6bhp of power. There are expectations that the French carmaker will reintroduce the Duster SUV in India as well, though it may take a few more years before it shows up on Indian roads.
Skoda Superb
Skoda has provided a first glimpse of the 2023 Superb with the release of sketches ahead of its official unveiling on November 2. The upcoming fourth generation Superb will continue to be based on the Skoda MQB platform. Renderings reveal that the 2023 Superb will adopt Skoda’s new design language, referred to as ‘Modern Solid’, and feature sleeker headlights equipped with Matrix LED technology, eye-catching LED taillights, and a wider grille. Under the hood, the new Skoda Superb is expected to offer a range of engines, including TSI petrol, TDI diesel, and hybrid powertrains.
Skoda is reportedly gearing up to reintroduce the Superb in the Indian market, though there is no official timeline available for when Indian consumers can expect the 2023 Superb to arrive on their roads.
