Samuel P. Vachon, 31, of Memorial Avenue in Franklin was arrested at 5:50 p.m. Aug. 10 on a charge of theft by unauthorized taking of $1,001 to $1,500. At approximately 1:30 p.m. on June 13, an officer was dispatched to Lowe’s for a previous robbery in mid-May. A loss prevention assistant said the man was identified when he returned to the store, stole more tools and then drove off in a black Toyota Tacoma with no plates. Another employee at the store completed a report and described the man. The employee accused the man of stealing approximately $1,026 worth of items — a 7-piece DeWalt tool set, a DeWalt charger, a leaf blower, and a Kobalt mixture with a charger that served as a display model. The employee accused the man of using an ax to cut straps from a display model. The officer viewed the footage and the information was provided to the Concord Regional Crime Line. Multiple tips came in saying the suspect was Vachon, the affidavit said. A tipster provided a photo “that shows Samuel wearing the same shoes he was wearing in the footage of my robbery,” the report said. The report added that another tipster indicated that Vachon was arrested by Tilton police after an incident at a Ralph Lauren store. The officer wrote that several tipsters “appeared to know Samuel personally.” After viewing “numerous booking photos” of Vachon, and confirming that he was the man in the footage from Lowes, a warrant was issued for his arrest. According to a State Police affidavit, Vachon was arrested Aug. 10 on drug and other charges after he was stopped in a work truck on Interstate 93 North and was accused of giving a false address to evade “several arrest warrants” against him.
