Woman arrested on suspicion of DUI after rear-end collision on Main Street in Cedar City – St. George News
Cedar City — A 21-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence Wednesday afternoon after a rear-end collision on Main Street in Cedar City.
The incident reportedly occurred shortly after 2 p.m. near the entrance to the parking lot of Intermountain Health’s Cedar City Imaging Center at 1333 North.
Cedar City Police Sgt. Justin Ludlow said the two vehicles involved were a silver Toyota Corolla and a red Toyota Prius, and each had a single female driver.
Both vehicles were heading south when the Corolla struck the back of the Prius, Ludlow said.
Responding police officers conducted a field test on the driver of the Corolla and subsequently took it into custody.
On the other hand, the driver of the Prius was taken to nearby Cedar City Hospital to receive treatment.

“She complained of back pain, so she went to the hospital because of that,” Ludlow said of the Prius driver, adding that the Corolla driver was also taken to the hospital, before being taken to jail.
“When you get into an accident and go to jail, you have to get a medical clearance first,” Ludlow said.
Shortly after 5 p.m., the Corolla driver, identified as Emma Tovey, was booked into the Iron County Jail on suspicion of driving under the influence (first offense in 10 years), a class B misdemeanor and negligent operation of a motor vehicle while under the influence of a controlled substance. . .
Both cars sustained severe damage and had to be towed from the scene. The impact on traffic was minimal, with neither vehicle able to close the road.
This report is based on preliminary data from law enforcement officials and may not contain the full scope of findings. Persons arrested or charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law or as determined by a trier of fact.
